The University expresses its heartfelt congratulations to student Sarah Lee Wai-sze (Creative and Professional Writing), a member of the Hong Kong Cycling Team, for winning the bronze medal in the final of the Women’s Sprint at the Tokyo Olympic Games on 8 August.

 

Dr Clement Chen, Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU, said: "All HKBU staff members, students and alumni are thrilled by Sarah's marvellous performance in the Izu Velodrome that helped her clinch the bronze medal in the Women's Sprint today. With her uncompromising dedication over the years in addition to her perseverance and fighting spirit, Sarah has become one of the world’s top cyclists and a role model for Hong Kong athletes.”

 

Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, said: “The entire HKBU community is overjoyed and proud of Sarah for winning the bronze medal in the Women’s Sprint competition.”

 

"The Hong Kong team have achieved their best-ever Olympic medal haul at this year's Games. It demonstrates that Hong Kong's standards in many sporting events are on a par with other top performers around the world. HKBU is glad to have contributed to the development of sport in Hong Kong by offering training programmes related to various sporting disciplines, and by supporting athletes’ academic and career," added Professor Wai.
