HKBU Men’s Basketball Team crowned champions at intercollegiate competition

The HKBU Men’s Basketball Team clinch the championship title at the 2021 University Sports Federation of Hong Kong Men’s Basketball Competition.

HKBU Men’s Basketball Team put in a strong performance to clinch the championship title at the 2021 University Sports Federation of Hong Kong (USFHK) Men’s Basketball Competition. 

 

In the final held at the Joint Sports Centre on 1 May, the HKBU men’s team realised their championship ambitions with a 79:67 victory over The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Under the leadership of the Head Coach Cheng Wai-ming, the team won the top title for the first time in 18 years. Team member Cheng Hoi-on received the Most Valuable Player award for his outstanding performance in the game.

 

In the women’s final of the Competition held on the same day, the HKBU women’s team grasped the 1st runner-up spot after a tense game against The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

 

The HKBU men’s team’s championship title is a fitting reward for their long-standing efforts and perseverance. They finally seized the championship trophy this year after having previously fought their way to the final of this annual intercollegiate tournament twice in the past three years. 

 

At this year’s tournament, the HKBU men’s team secured a place in the final after they defeated The Education University of Hong Kong and the Chu Hai College of Higher Education, while the women’s team beat Lingnan University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
