HKBU continues significant rise in global rankings

HKBU's recent achievements in some of the world’s most influential global university rankings represent global recognition of the University’s academic excellence and strategic direction, as well as our efforts to become a leading university in the region.

In the newly released Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2024, HKBU made significant progress, rising to the 101-200th band. Notably, the University has been ranked 2nd globally for “SDG 4: Quality Education”, underscoring its commitment to providing inclusive and equitable education. The overall score has also risen to the range between 84.0 and 89.1, showcasing the University’s excellent performance across various aspects of sustainability.

HKBU has also made a stellar leap from 105th to 63rd place in the 2024 THE Asia University Rankings. In addition, HKBU achieved a prominent ranking in THE Young University Rankings 2024, advancing substantially from the 101-150th band to 46th compared to the previous year. THE evaluated 673 universities under 50 years old from 79 countries or regions, and HKBU recorded notable improvements in critical areas including “research quality”, “research environment”, “industry”, and “teaching”.

Furthermore, in the 2025 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, HKBU made a significant leap of 43 places to the 252nd position, marking our best performance in this ranking exercise since 2013.

The strong showings for HKBU in global rankings are testimony to HKBU’s excellence in transdisciplinary teaching, learning and research, and they also mark the University as one of Asia’s finest institutions of higher education for multi-talented and high-calibre scholars and students with creativity and a broad perspective.
