The HKBU 66th Commencement Ceremony saw affectionate embraces between friends, laughs among classmates, and a sense of excitement buzzing throughout campus as the graduating Class of 2025 got ready to begin the next chapter of their lives.
This year, between HKBU and the Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University, over 9,000 undergraduate degrees and higher degrees have been conferred. Held from 5 to 20 June, the Commencement Ceremony and the related events gathered graduating students, their friends, and families to celebrate their hard-earned achievement. Faculty members, staff and the University leaders saluted the determination and resilience of the graduates, who pushed through challenges in the post-pandemic era.
In his remarks to students, Professor Alex Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor, said, “We now live in an era defined by transformation. From generative AI to climate change, from geopolitical shifts to the reinvention of work, today’s world calls for talent who can transcend pre-defined boundaries, adapt with agility, and lead with empathy. As graduating students of HKBU which is a university committed to transdisciplinary education and whole-person development, you are uniquely equipped to rise to that need.”
He encouraged students to look for opportunities to be change agents and leaders in communities, and to use their knowledge, skills and talents to make a positive impact. He also urged graduates to stay curious and pursue life-long learning to thrive in a job market marked by agility.
