HKBU congratulates Academy of Film alumni for their achievements at the Hong Kong Film Awards

Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) Academy of Film (AF) alumni Mr Felix Chong and Ms Oliver Chan won a number of prizes at the 38th Hong Kong Film Awards held tonight. Mr Chong won Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay for his film Project Gutenberg, while Ms Chan won Best New Director for Still Human, a film she wrote and directed.

 

 

HKBU President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Roland Chin congratulated the winning alumni. He said: "It is very encouraging to see the dedication, creativity and hard work of our enthusiastic film professionals recognised at these prestigious Awards. Such critical acclaim also shows that Hong Kong is full of film talents. HKBU will continue to nurture more creative young people, providing them with an excellent cinematic arts and creative media education which will enable them to reach their potential."

 

Mr Felix Chong graduated from the School of Communication at Hong Kong Baptist College in 1993. He is one of the 6th HKBU Distinguished Alumni Award recipients this year. His film Project Gutenberg led the way with the most nominations at this year's Hong Kong Film Awards with an impressive 17 nominations.

 

2015 AF alumna Ms Oliver Chan studied for a Master of Fine Arts in Film, TV and Digital Media at HKBU. She has already won a number of awards for Still Human, including three awards at the 25th Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards, the Best New Director prize at the 13th Asian Film Awards, and the Audience Award at the Osaka Asian Film Festival 2019.
