HKBU's annual Golf Day raises funds to support University's advancement

Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) held the HKBU.ASHWORTH Golf Day 2020 today (30 October) at the Eden Course of The Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling. The Chan Yin Chuen Memorial Charitable Foundation was the event's title sponsor.

 

The event attracted 133 participants who formed 34 teams to compete for 29 awards. A total of HK$2.2 million was raised for the HKBU Foundation to support the University's strategic development, particularly the recent establishment of the six interdisciplinary research laboratories to expand its research strengths, Project SEED (Student Engagement, Enrichment and Development), as well as the provision of scholarships for needy students to pursue further studies or to participate in overseas exchange activities.   

 

Officiating at the tee-off ceremony were Mr Peter Chan, representative of ASHWORTH and the Chan Yin Chuen Memorial Charitable Foundation; Mr Allan Kwong, the event's venue sponsor; Mr Dean Nelson, Director of Golf at The Hong Kong Golf Club; Dr Ronald Lu and Ir Dr Wong Kwok Keung, Co-Chairmen of the Organising Committee; Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU; and Mrs Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement at HKBU and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.

 

Since 2004, the Golf Day has raised a total of over HK$20.2 million to support the University's advancement.
