HKBU's annual Golf Day raises HK$2.3 million for institutional development

Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) held the "HKBU 65th Anniversary.ASHWORTH Golf Day 2021" today (29 October) on the Eden Course of The Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling. The event attracted over 200 participants, and 161 of them formed 41 teams to compete for 29 awards. The event successfully raised HK$2.3 million for the HKBU Foundation.

 

The event has been sponsored by the Chan Yin Chuen Memorial Charitable Foundation through the clothing brand ASHWORTH for the past two years. ASHWORTH also sponsored the event's golf shirts. The funds raised will be used to support the University's strategic development, particularly the six interdisciplinary research laboratories, Project SEED (Student Engagement, Enrichment and Development), as well as the provision of scholarships for needy students, which will enable them to pursue further studies or participate in overseas exchange activities.

 

Officiating at the cheque presentation ceremony cum ceremonial tee-off was Mr Peter Chan, representative of the Chan Yin Chuen Memorial Charitable Foundation and ASHWORTH; Mr Paul Kwong and Mr Thomas Mak, representatives of Certiz Premier Products Limited and the event's venue sponsor; Mr Dean Nelson, Director of Golf at The Hong Kong Golf Club; Dr Ronald Lu, Co-Chairman of the event's Organising Committee; Mr Paul Poon, Deputy Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU; Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU; Professor Rick Wong, Interim Provost of HKBU and Mrs Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement at HKBU and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.

 

Since 2004, HKBU's Golf Day has raised a total of more than HK$22.5 million.
