HKBU School of Chinese Medicine’s Cheung On Tak International Award for Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Medicine opens for nominations

The 7th Cheung On Tak International Award for Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Medicine, launched by the School of Chinese Medicine at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), is now accepting nominations until 30 June 2023. Nominations from scholars as well as local and non-local academic institutions, including universities, research institutes and relevant departments and academic societies at or above the provincial/ministerial level in mainland China, are welcome.
Following its rapid development in different parts of the world, traditional Chinese medicine is now playing an increasingly important role in the healthcare systems of many countries. Therefore, HKBU established the biennial award scheme in 2011 with a view to recognising scientists and scholars who have advanced the internationalisation of Chinese medicine or its knowledge base with their ground-breaking and internationally-recognised achievements. It also aims to foster the development as well as the internationalisation and modernisation of Chinese medicine for the benefit of the global community.
A distinguished panel of adjudicators comprising renowned scholars and scientists from related fields will select the awardee(s) on the basis of the nominees’ contributions to the Chinese medicine sector, their achievements in advancing the internationalisation of Chinese medicine, and their academic/professional influence in the international arena.
The winner of the Award will receive a monetary prize of HK$500,000. In the event of the conferment of more than one award, the prize will be shared equally between the awardees. It is expected that the awardee(s) will be selected by the end of 2023, and the award ceremony-cum-lecture by the awardee(s) will be held in 2024.
