HKBU runners give their best at Hong Kong Marathon

Sunday, 21 January 2024

Over 550 runners from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) took part in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon today (21 January), demonstrating HKBU’s strong sense of unity. The HKBU runners comprised University staff members, students, alumni and friends.

Professor Alex Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, who completed the 10-kilometre run, remarked: “Participating in the marathon alongside the HKBU community has been a memorable experience. Together, we run as a team and exemplify HKBU’s spirit of pursuing excellence and self-transcendence. The moment we crossed the finish line today reminded us of the power of perseverance and the fulfillment that come from pushing through challenges. It also unveiled the boundless potential when we unite towards a common goal.

HKBU runners enjoyed the support and encouragement at various points along the route from a dedicated cheering team. At the booth set up by HKBU at the Causeway Bay Sports Ground, around 50 Chinese medicine teachers and students provided massage therapy for HKBU runners. HKBU runners also gathered at the booth, taking photos, cheering each other on and collecting souvenirs to celebrate this memorable moment.
