Friday, 24 May 2024

The Academy of Visual Arts (AVA) of the School of Creative Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) will present its Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Visual Arts Graduation Show from 1 to 23 June at the University’s Kai Tak Campus. The exhibition, themed “Opus”, will showcase the creative works of 130 AVA graduating students, reflecting their artistic achievements incubated in this ever-changing era. It invites visitors to savour the sweetness and bitterness, as well as ups and downs experienced by these students on their artistic creative journey.

The exhibits are presented through a variety of art forms, encompassing painting, sculpture, ink painting, ceramics, glass, installation, jewellery, wearables, textile arts, photography, video, media art, illustration, performance art and printmaking. Each art piece mirrors the artistic experiences and personal growth of the graduating students. Photos and descriptions of 12 selected artworks from the exhibition can be downloaded from this link.

The exhibits will be installed at different locations of HKBU’s Kai Tak Campus, turning the Grade 1 historic building, the former Royal Air Force Officers’ Mess, into a creative platform where the students’ art talent truly shine.

An opening ceremony will be held on 31 May (Friday). Members of the public who wish to visit the exhibition from 1 to 23 June are required to make an online reservation via this link.

In addition, the public is welcome to participate in the talks and workshops organised by the AVA students throughout the exhibition by registering online. For more information about the exhibition, please refer to the official pages.
