HKBU Master of Arts in Visual Arts graduation show explores the constant flux of time

Thursday, 11 July 2024

The Academy of Visual Arts (AVA) at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) will present its Master of Arts in Visual Arts Graduation Show 2024 from 13 to 27 July at the University’s Kai Tak Campus. The exhibition, themed “Time Tracing”, will feature the captivating works of 21 graduating students of different backgrounds and artistic disciplines, covering areas such as installation art, multimedia art, design, crafts and photography.

The theme “Time Tracing” draws inspiration from the perspective on temporality and changes in time presented by the renowned American writer and educator Carol Becker. The exhibition hopes to invite visitors to ponder over the dynamic nature of human existence and the transformative power of time. It explores how individuals can adapt and navigate through the constant flux of time.

The diverse collection of artworks explores a wide range of themes: from protecting wildlife on highways to connecting nature and memorials; from reflecting on the desire to transform childhood traumas to contemplating the diaspora of present circumstances; and from reminiscing one’s past to commemorating traditions.

The exhibits will be displayed at various locations across the Kai Tak Campus. Members of the public who are interested in visiting the exhibition or joining workshops are required to make an online reservation via this link.
