Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) held its 2025 New Year's Day Flag Raising Ceremony on campus today (1 January).

Dr the Hon Kennedy Wong Ying-ho, who officially assumed the role of Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU, was joined by about 150 participants at the ceremony, including Council and Court members, senior management, staff, alumni and students. The ceremony featured the raising of the national flag, the HKSAR flag and the HKBU flag by the HKBU Student Flag-raising Team.

In his address, Dr Wong expressed his delight in meeting with the University community to celebrate the arrival of the New Year. He pointed out that HKBU’s teaching, learning and research excellence is gaining wider recognition worldwide, thanks to the dedicated efforts of its members and the staunch support from various sectors of society.

“The New Year brings a promising new outlook. In 2025, we will gradually open facilities at the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity, and the Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong, for which HKBU is the contractor for its service deed, will commence phased operations later this year. With a new campus, a new hospital, and advancements in transdisciplinary curriculum reforms, we can look forward to a vibrant year for HKBU,” said Dr Wong.

Dr Wong also encouraged members of the University to seize the opportunities ahead and work together to foster the development of HKBU, aiming to make even greater contribution to society, the nation and the world.
