The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK) successfully hosted a recruitment event at the Metro City Plaza in Tseung Kwan O today (29 March), attracting hundreds of enthusiastic participants. This event featured positions in the hospital's administrative and frontline roles. The response of the recruitment day highlights society's significant interest and attention to positions in Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as the public's concerns for the future development of the hospital.
Mr Huen Wong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited; Ms Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU); Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, Hospital Chief Executive of CMHHK; and other distinguished guests attended the event. CMHHK, covering a site area of approximately 42,900 square metres, is expected to start operations in phases in December 2025. The hospital is being constructed by the Government and will be managed and operated by the HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited. As the first Chinese Medicine Hospital in Hong Kong, CMHHK will provide 400 beds and offer a range of Chinese medicine specialties, including internal medicine, external medicine, gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics and traumatology, and acupuncture and moxibustion. It aims to provide comprehensive healthcare services in Chinese medicine by integrating traditional Chinese practices with Western medicine and introducing innovative technologies to better serve the public.
In addition, CMHHK will actively engage in various interactions and collaborate with the industry to promote the development of Chinese medicine across Hong Kong, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and international institutions. By sharing resources and expertise, CMHHK aims to advance the standardisation and globalisation of Chinese medicine, opening new directions for future healthcare services. Participants at the recruitment day had the opportunity to engage with the hospital's professional team and gain insights into various career development opportunities. Professor Bian Zhaoxiang noted, "We believe that the success of the hospital relies on the selfless dedication and professional efforts of each employee. We look forward to welcoming all aspiring individuals to join us in advancing the development of Chinese medicine."
This recruitment day marks an important step toward the hospital’s success in joining hands with dedicated candidates to fuel the hospital’s future development. CMHHK aims to attract the best talent to realise its vision and contribute to enhancing the health of the community.
CMHHK, located in No 1, Pak Shing Kok, Tseung Kwan O, is expected to commence operation in phases in December 2025. It is being constructed by the Government, and HKBU was appointed as the contractor in June 2021 through a tendering process. Subsequently, HKBU registered “HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited” as the operator in accordance with the requirements of the service deed, which is responsible for the management, operation, and maintenance of CMHHK. CMHHK will provide quality Chinese medicine services to the public and serve as a hub for clinical teaching and research in the field.
