Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) held its Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions today (4 October), receiving enthusiastic responses from over 20,000 secondary school students, parents and teachers. A series of admissions talks, which offered up-to-date guidance for applicants with HKDSE results, sub-degree, or international qualifications, were well-attended. Participants had the opportunity to gain in-depth insights into programme features and admissions information and interact with HKBU faculty and students.
At the admission talk, Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) of HKBU, shared the University’s development on transdisciplinary education. HKBU’s flexible curriculum enables students to pursue a Transdisciplinary Second Major (TSM) or Second Major (SM) alongside their main field of study, equipping them to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. Dr Chau also noted that HKBU’s innovative curriculum design has received significant external recognition, including the University Grants Committee Teaching Award in 2025 for the Transdisciplinary Innovation Team’s collaborative excellence. From the launch of new transdisciplinary programmes in 2022/23 to a comprehensive curriculum reform this year, HKBU continues to set new benchmarks in educational innovation and holistic student development.
One of the highlights of this year’s Information Day was the first public open house of the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity which integrates innovation and sustainability. It features state-of-the-art facilities across various creative art disciplines, such as a full-size scoring stage, industry-standard post-production suites for film or music, and other studios and classrooms designed for professional production, performance and teaching. Participants joined activities such as piano masterclasses, recording studio workshops and film scoring workshops, experiencing the world-class teaching facilities firsthand.
The event also featured the first full public open house of Village CARE, a new residential community within the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity. Comprising four colleges, it provides over 1,700 residential spaces for students and features studio rooms and co-creation spaces to foster innovation and exchange. Visitors joined guided tours, which offered first-hand experience of its unique integration of living and creative teaching and research environments.
The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, School of Business, School of Chinese Medicine, School of Communication, School of Creative Arts, Faculty of Science, School of Continuing Education, and Division of Transdisciplinary Undergraduate Programmes at HKBU hosted over 100 exciting activities and talks today, including 360 Virtual Reality (VR) Walk Through Geographical Landscapes, screen acting, VR and Augmented Reality (AR) games experience, news anchoring, glass blowing, woodworking and Chinese calligraphy.
The programme also included showcases related to artificial intelligence (AI), such as a fencing visualisation demo, highlighting the fruits of HKBU’s efforts to integrate technology and creativity.
Additionally, student live performances in musical instruments, bands, singing and dance highlighted the creative talent and vibrant campus life at HKBU.
