HKBU congratulates Janelle Leung Ya-lei on clinching bronze medal in Women’s Foil Team at Asian Games

Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) congratulates Janelle Leung Ya-lei, a member of the Fencing Team of Hong Kong, China, on winning the bronze medal in the Women’s Foil Team event together with her teammates at the 20th Asian Games today (26 September).

Professor Alex Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Janelle Leung Ya-lei: “Janelle once shared that HKBU’s location at the foot of Lion Rock has inspired her to showcase not only sportsmanship on the international stage, but also the indomitable Lion Rock Spirit. Today, Janelle and her teammates represented Hong Kong, China with distinction at the Asian Games, making the entire HKBU community proud. As a student of the School of Chinese Medicine at HKBU, Janelle embodies the principles of Chinese medicine, namely harmony between humanity and nature and the balance of yin and yang, which are echoed in the balance, coordinated footwork and integration of attack and defence in fencing. HKBU wishes Janelle continued success in both fencing and Chinese medicine, and hopes her story will inspire more young people to pursue their dreams with courage.”

Janelle Leung Ya-lei was admitted to the Bachelor of Chinese Medicine and Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biomedical Science programme through HKBU’s Talented Athletes Direct Admission Scheme.
