HKBU School of Creative Arts debuts its inaugural transdisciplinary programme graduates alongside two bachelor’s graduation shows, inviting the public on an innovation journey

Wednesday, 27 May 2026

The School of Creative Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) will showcase the creative power of the new generation to the public at two graduation exhibitions. This year marks the debut cohort of graduates of the Bachelor of Arts and Science (Hons) in Arts and Technology (ARTT) programme, who will present their show named “Ctrl+F” from 31 May to 7 June at the East Kowloon Cultural Centre. At the same time, graduates of the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Visual Arts (BAVA) programme will present their work in a show titled “until I reach the nano”, from 30 May to 21 June at the University’s Kai Tak Campus.

As a keyboard command for “search”, “Ctrl+F” is used to locate, retrace and confirm direction, mirroring how people continually test and explore in life. Through repeated searching and adjustment, methods and rhythms emerge, reflecting the very process of creation. The show invites visitors to experience the drive and possibilities that come with “searching”.

“until I reach the nano” is inspired by experiments in which scientists use adhesive tape to separate graphene layers from graphite, reaching a thickness of less than one nanometre. It symbolises the graduates’ perseverance and spirit of exploration as they keep testing and refining throughout the creative process until they distil the fruits of their labour. Photos and descriptions of selected artworks from these two exhibitions can be downloaded via this link.

Launched in 2022, the Bachelor of Arts and Science (Hons) in Arts and Technology is one of the University’s first transdisciplinary programmes. It aims to cultivate talents proficient in both the arts and technology. This year, 29 debut cohort of graduates are participating in the exhibition. Established in 2005, the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Visual Arts programme focuses on exploring interdisciplinary arts across different media. It offers concentrations in Studio and Media Arts, as well as Craft and Design. In total, 124 graduates are exhibiting this year.
