Mr Lee Yu Leung is an inspirational leader of leaders who nurtures global talent.  His pioneering social and academic networks forge new links between Hong Kong, China and India which promise opportunity for many generations to come.  Mr Lee currently serves as Chairman of China Fortune Foundation Limited and China India Fortune Foundation Limited and Director of the Norman So WYK (Wah Yan, Kowloon) Development Fund.  He is also Director of Asia Consultants International Limited.
 
Graduating from the Hong Kong Baptist College with a Diploma in Business Management, Mr Lee has served the local financial industry since 1981.  His first appointment was with Sun Hung Kai Investment Services Limited.  Over the next two decades he acquired extensive experience in the financial sector and provided strategic investment advice to individual and corporate clients. During this illustrious career he has held Directorships in a number of highly reputable securities and listed companies, including Asia Financial (securities) Limited from 1995 to 2002, China Conservational Power Holdings from 2002 to 2005 and, since 2004, Asia Consultants International Limited.  He was elected Council Member of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited from 1996 to 2000, and was appointed as member of the Listing Committee from 1996 to 2001.
 
Mr Lee’s humanist acts have a profound impact upon the development of Hong Kong, China, and India relations.  In 2008 his was the vision to establish the China Fortune Foundation with the goal of developing leadership potential for China as a means to create sustained prosperity.  Dedicated to building a better future for his motherland, he has been proactively engaged in elite cultivation, and providing meaningful opportunities for cultural, sports, and academic exchange.  The China Fortune Foundation has actively promoted research on contemporary China, medical development, and environmental protection.  Driven both by the success of the China Fortune Foundation in developing leadership, and by his own deep conviction in the capacity of humankind to create opportunity, Mr Lee co-founded in 2010 the China India Fortune Foundation.  This pioneering Foundation promotes dialogue and strategic collaboration between the world’s two largest nations, and will create socio-economic synergies between India, China, and Hong Kong for generations to follow.  For his global leadership and sincere dedication to society Mr. Lee was honoured with the title of Advisor of Education for Poverty Alleviation of the School of Continuing Education at Tsinghua University.
 
Mr Lee’s genuine passion for educational and charitable work has already had very real impacts in Hong Kong.  His commitment to future leaders shines through his work as an outstanding alumnus of Wah Yan College, Kowloon.  Between 2004 and 2006 he served as School Manager for his alma mater, and between 2008 and 2010 he served as Director of the Wah Yan One Family Foundation.  At Hong Kong Baptist University, his China Fortune Foundation made a generous donation in 2010 that supported projects in the Advanced Institute for Contemporary China Studies, the School of Chinese Medicine, and the Department of Music.  A year later the China India Fortune Foundation also made a generous pledge to support educational exchange between China and India.  Mr. Lee was honoured with the title Honorary President of the Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation.
 
Mr Chairman, in view of Mr Lee’s distinguished contributions to charitable and educational causes that harness the strengths of Chinese people throughout the world, and his generous service to the University over many years, it is my privilege to present Mr Lee Yu Leung to you for the award of the Honorary University Fellowship.
