HKBU students shine at University World Cup Combat Sports competition

Three HKBU students claimed four gold and two silver medals at the 2022 FISU University World Cup Combat Sports competition held in late September.

Sat Pak-long, a year 4 student of the Physical Education and Recreation Management programme, won two gold medals in the Men’s Taijijian and Taijiquan events. Lau Po-yan, a year 2 student of the Sport and Recreation Studies programme at the College of International Education (CIE), obtained two gold medals in the Women’s Nandao and Nanquan events.

Ho Yin-cheng, a year 2 student of the Sport and Recreation Studies programme at CIE, also won two silver medals in the Men’s Daoshu and Gunshu events.

Organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the competition was held in Turkey this year, and the world’s best university athletes battled it out in six sports, namely Boxing, Karate, Muay Thai, SAMBO, Wrestling and Wushu.
