Professor Michael Ng Kwok-Po, Dean of the Faculty of Science, has been named a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) for 2025 in recognition of his achievements and significant contributions to mathematics.
AMS members designated as Fellows of the AMS have made outstanding contributions to the creation, exposition, advancement, communication, and utilisation of mathematics. The Class of 2025 Fellows are being recognised by their peers for their contributions to the profession.
Professor Ng is also Dr. Elizabeth K.S. Law Endowed Professor in Data Science, Chair Professor in Mathematics, Chair Professor in Data Science and Chair Professor (Affiliate) of the Department of Computer Science. His research interests include applied and computational mathematics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, data science and scientific computing.
Professor Ng has received numerous honours over the years, which include the AAIA Fellow in 2022, the Second Prize of 2020 Guangdong Natural Science Award, the second Prize of 2019 Hunan Natural Science Award. He is also among the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists and top mathematics and computer science scientists in China.
