In a remarkable display of perseverance and impeccable strength, HKBU students delivered outstanding performances at the Asian Games and the Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou, earning one gold, two silver and four bronze medals.
The latest medal that was won by an HKBU student came from Chan Ho-yuen, a member of the Para Badminton Team of Hong Kong, China. He claimed the bronze medal in the Men’s Singles WH2 Badminton event at the Asian Para Games. In addition, Wong Tsz-to, a member of the Triathlon Team of Hong Kong, China, won the bronze medal in the Triathlon Mixed Relay event at the Asian Games earlier this month.
More success stories involved HKBU student athletes. Cheung Ka-long, a member of the Fencing Team of Hong Kong, China, won the gold medal in the Men’s Foil Individual event and a bronze medal in the Men’s Foil Team event. Another notable triumph came from Forrest Shanna Sanman, a member of the Rugby Team of Hong Kong, China, who earned the bronze medal in Women’s Rugby Sevens. Ma Kwan-ching and Ngai Wai-yan both claimed silver in the Women’s Windsurfing – iQFoil event and the Women’s RS:X Windsurfing event respectively.
Our students’ successes in sports represent a source of great pride and inspiration for the entire HKBU community. Their excellent performances not only highlight their skills and strength, but also underscore the sporting excellence of Hong Kong, as well as serve as a testament to the University’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel in both academics and sports.
