HKBU enhances online Chinese medicine health enquiry service

In response to the novel coronavirus outbreak, the Hong Kong Baptist University ‒ Jockey Club Chinese Medicine Disease Prevention and Health Management Centre (the Centre) has enhanced its online services to provide the latest health and Chinese medicine information to the general public.

From now until 31 August, the general public can submit their questions on different health issues to experts from the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) through the "Doctor's mailbox" online platform once they have registered as a member of the Centre on its official website (https://embracehealth.org.hk/html/questions.php). The enquiry service is free of charge.

On the "Doctor's mailbox" online platform, lecturers from SCM will answer questions raised by the public on various disease and health topics, covering areas such as health information, health protection tips and common Chinese medicine knowledge. The enquiry service aims to provide useful information to the public for reference purposes, but it is not equivalent to an online diagnosis, prescription or treatment direction for patients.

In the past, the "Doctor's mailbox"  was only open to certain member categories. However, from now on the service will be extended to all members. After registering on the Centre's website, members of the public can submit up to ten questions every month and request answers from designated lecturers.

On the other hand, the website of the Jockey Club "Embrace Health" Chinese Medicine Programme launched by SCM (https://embracehealth.org.hk) has recently introduced a column on "BUCM - The novel coronavirus pneumonia", which provides tips on infection prevention from the perspective of Chinese medicine. The Centre was set up under the Jockey Club "Embrace Health" Chinese Medicine Programme, which was launched with the generous support of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
