The Jockey Club Mus-Fit for Health Project launched by the Dr. Stephen Hui Research Centre for Physical Recreation and Wellness organised its first sports competition day last month. Over 100 participants aged 50 to 70 gathered to undertake a series of challenges.
Dr Jiao Jiao, the Project-in-Charge and Research Assistant Professor of the Department of Sport, Physical Education and Health, expressed her gratitude to the supporting organisations in the past year for motivating older adults to exercise and enhance exercise and health literacy through diverse activities.
Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, this three-year project aims to provide older adults with fitness exercises targeted at strength training, endurance, balance, and flexibility, supporting older adults in cultivating exercise habits to stay healthy. It has entered its second year, with over 3,000 beneficiaries. It has also been promoted on the minibuses of different routes to encourage more public participation.
