On 8 February 2023, HKBU students filled their appetite for community and professional connections by participating in the Employers’ Luncheon. Organised by the Office of Student Affairs, the annual Employers’ Luncheon connects graduating students with employers from a wide range of business fields. This year’s Luncheon returned as an in-person event held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre for the first time since the pandemic.

The event saw about 130 graduating students building professional networks with and learning about job opportunities from more than 530 employer representatives. The theme of the event was ‘We are Ready’, which not only denotes the University’s commitment to fostering future-ready students with a well-rounded education, but also signifies that HKBU graduating students are ready to contribute to different sectors of society with their caliber.

In his opening remarks, Dr Clement Chen, Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU, said: “I’m delighted that the event can be held physically this year. It is so wonderful to see so many friends here and the event is a good opportunity for us to recharge, reconnect and rebuild your understanding of the recent achievements of HKBU pre and post pandemic.”

Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor, introduced the recent developments of the University. He said: “HKBU remains committed to enhancing students’ personal attributes and readiness for their paths after graduation in the new post-pandemic era. They will become not only skilful and competent members of the workforce, but also forward-looking, collaborative, caring and adaptive global citizens who can shine in their careers and thrive in a competitive market.”

Moreover, seven students, representing different faculties and schools, rose to the occasion as they showcased their achievements and shared their career aspirations on stage.
