HKBU scholars receive Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards
Four research projects conducted by scholars from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) have received second-class awards from the Ministry of Education at the Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards (Science and Technology) 2018.
Officiated by Miss Sharon Ko Yee-wai, Acting Deputy Secretary for Education, and Dr Clement Chan, Chairman of the HKBU Council and the Court, the award presentation ceremony was held yesterday on the HKBU campus. University representatives at the event included HKBU President Professor Roland Chin.
The award-winning HKBU projects are:
“Pollution characteristics of complex environmental pollutants in typical regions” by Professor Cai Zongwei, Founding Kwok Yat Wai Endowed Chair of Environmental and Biological Analysis in the Department of Chemistry, and Professor Wong Ming-hung, Emeritus Professor;
“Research in intelligent decision-making and behavioral dynamics on networks” by Professor Liu Jiming, Associate Vice-President (Research) and Chair Professor of Computer Science;
“Robust visual feature extraction and non-linear analysis” by Professor Yuen Pong-chi, Associate Dean of Science and Professor of Computer Science; and
“Theoretical and algorithmic study on ADMM (Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers)” by Professor Yuan Xiaoming, former Professor of Mathematics.
