Friday, 14 October 2022

Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) will hold its Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions on 22 October (Saturday). Secondary school students, parents and teachers are welcome to visit HKBU’s Kowloon Tong Campus in person to participate in various activities, and gather admissions and programme information.

Face-to-face exchange to understand latest programme developments

The HKBU Information Day is being held as a physical event for the first time since the pandemic, and it will run from 11am to 5pm. It aims to showcase the latest developments of HKBU’s undergraduate programmes, as well as the teaching and learning environment of the University, through a variety of activities.

Features four large-scale talks and a series of activities

There will be four large-scale admissions talks tailored respectively for secondary school students sitting the HKDSE, students with international qualifications, associate degree and higher diploma students and holders, and students who are interested in applying for admission through the newly launched Students with Exceptional Talent Direct Admission Scheme (SETDAS). Participants can converse with professors and current students directly. The four admissions talks will also be broadcast live online.

In addition, the seven faculties and schools of HKBU, including the Faculty of Arts, School of Business, School of Chinese Medicine, School of Communication, School of Creative Arts, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Social Sciences, together with the Division of Transdisciplinary Undergraduate Programmes established for the four transdisciplinary programmes, will offer around 50 briefing sessions. Scheduled events include a series of programme talks, thematic talks, workshops, as well as laboratory and facilities tours. The activities will be held physically on the HKBU campus and/or broadcast live online, and interested parties are welcome to participate in person or online.

Students with Exceptional Talent Direct Admission Scheme

HKBU will launch the Students with Exceptional Talent Direct Admission Scheme in 2023/24 for students with special talents in various areas, such as sport, music, cultural activities (excluding music/performing arts), creativity (including visual arts), leadership or other fields, providing them with a diversified admission channel. Applicants who have been selected for admission after assessment by relevant programmes will be exempt from the general and programme entrance requirements.

New audio-visual research facility opens to the public for the first time

The Visualisation Research Centre, a new audio-visual research facility recently established by HKBU, will be opened to the public for the first time on Information Day. By blending art and technology and bringing together cutting-edge immersive art, virtual reality, digital heritage and interactive cinema facilities, the Centre allows HKBU teachers, researchers and students to explore totally new audio-visual experiences that herald the future of art-tech. Teachers and students who are interested in creative arts should take this opportunity to visit the Centre.
